TIPS ON FIRST DATE

      She's a sophomore, pretty and soft spoken.He's a college senior handsome and athletic. They meet, fall in love and live happily ever after.
      This is a common romantic plot not only on reel but in real life as well. But you know of course that the plot can't be that simple. Somewhere along that storyline must be a couple of spats and quarrels which somehow strengthen a relationship
       But let's not talk about those. Let's look at another ingredient, a pleasant one, that also strengthens relationships: dating.
       Date are essential social engagements between the opposite sex because they're the best and decent way to get to know someone you are romantically interested in and find out if you two are compatible. Dating is in effect a way of starting:"I'm interested in getting to know you better" and asking "Are you?" The first date is the most important of all.
       On the first date, you may decide that you have finally found Mr. Right or the woman of your dreams or the occasion may unfortunately turn out to be a disaster that you never want to see the other's face for as long as you live!
        It doesn't have to be the latter. Why risk a disastrous evening when you can have a wonderful time even if you discover that your date isn't exactly your type.
        Here are some tips for the males and females, young and old alike, to make your first date, be it a new person or your first time out with the opposite sex, an enjoyable one.
        Be on time. It's not true that woman have to be late or have the right to be so. It's childish to think that your date will think you're too eager if you come on time.Many girls intentionally delay things and then sweetly apologize with non-existent reasons.Now, isn't that silly? If you know you take long to get ready, start preparing earlier.
        The best way to start a date is to get it off on time. This way nobody's sour about having to wait for an hour or so. Like in school and in work, tardiness is a bad mark -- a bad mark indeed in the record of love.
        Try to put your best foot forward. Remember that first impressions are crucial. Dress appropriately.
Be conscious of your appearance.
Watch your manners, the way you talk, walk, eat, laugh. But don't overdo it and be overly conscious, otherwise you'd be too busy guarding yourself to enjoy.
        Speaking of first impressions, it won't hurt to check your breath once in a while. Offensive mouth odor is the fastest way to make you a "turn-off". Just to be sure, carry along some Astring-o-sol pastilles in your pocket or bag. In candy form, Astring-o-sol is like an instant mouthwash" which kills mouth germs that cause bad breath.
        While you're trying to make a good impression, also be yourself. It seems contradictory, doesn't it? Not really. Just don't try to be somebody you're not.If you are not the talkative type don't babble away and pretend to be witty or something just to impress the other. If you are yourself, you're more relaxed and being means enjoying.
         Don't over-indulge on your partner. Both males and females may be guilty of this and it spoils the whole affair: Don't be anxious that the other isn't enjoying that you try so hard to do or say things that will please your date. As it turn out, you both won't enjoy the evening.
         In contrast, don't be selfish. You may get carried away and dominate the conversation throughout the evening. Give your date a change to share his own stories. If, on the other hand, you're totally bored, don't sulk. Be patient.

STORING WINE

      Wine from big containers that have been opened can be re-bottled and its life
                extended by being poured into smaller wine bottles.
       Be sure to leave very little air space between wine and cork.
       To eliminate air suck with syringe and seal hole with wax.

NATURAL FLEA CONTROL

      Cats and dogs weaken as fleas suck blood through their skin.
      Control the fleas by applying aromatic plants such as pennyroyal, mint,
              sassafra and the like.
       Boil a quantity of such herbs in water and wash your pets with the
              liquid.
       If the fleas don't leave, at least you'll have a fragrant pet.
       Or make a flea collar by soaking a piece of cloth flea collar in oil
                of pennyroyal.
       Leave a couple of bunches inside the doghouse for a few days.

CHAMPAGNE

      Do chill champagne in ice bucket only up to the neck, or removing the cork may be troublesome.
      Do not chill champagne in the refrigerator for hours.The flavor is more delicate if chilled for only
             a short while on ice.
      If you find it difficult to remove the plastic cork, run hot water on the neck of the bottle. Heat expands
             the glass, causing the cork to pop out.

KITCHEN TIPS

 
       Don't use knives to cut foodstuffs on top of glass, metal or tile surfaces. Use a wooden cutting board for this purpose
         Use a knife with scalloped or serrated edge to cut soft bread and cakes to prevent crushing.
         Wash dirty knives in warm water and dry immediately. Don't soak them in water; they warp and roughen.
          For fluffing omelets, bring eggs to room temperature before beating. Do not use straight from the fridge.
         To get the right texture of whipped cream, chill the bowl, beater and cream hours before whipping. Milk
fats will stay firm during whipping rather than become oily from friction.
         To reconstitute whole dry milk solids, use 3-4 tbsp. of powdered milk to 1 cup water. This quantity will equal 1 cup of fresh milk. For best flavor, reconstitute 2 hours before use.
         Add wine beforehand in recipes which include milk, cream, eggs, or butter to avoid curdling or
separation of the latter items.
         Three tbsp. of cocoa and 1 tbsp. fat can be used as substitute in a recipe calling for ounce of chocolate.

CARE TIPS FOR GLASSWARE

             The care of glassware is important its selection. Here are some tips on glassware care.
     Use mild suds and warm water for washing, never caustic powder. A few drops of cleaning fluid will
             add luster to the glass.Rinse in cool water and drain. Polish gently,holding onto the bowl part of
             the goblet. Use a lint free towel. Place only one goblet into the dish pan at a time to avoid chipping.
     The greatest number of glassware casualties occur in the kitchen. Take time to place a rubber mat in the
            sink before washing your fine edged glassware. Remember to fold tea towels for the drain, and rinse
            goblets in a plastic dish pan. It's very easy to chip delicate glass against the spout if you hold it directly
            under the running water.
     Avoid sudden temperature changes. Extreme heat cause glass to expand; cold to contract. Both result
           in cracking.
     Glasses piled inside each other sometimes stick together. Do not pry! Fill the inside glass with glass
           with cold water and immerse the outer one in water to separate.
      Before using your dishwasher, check out your machine as some have special settings for glassware.
           Be especially careful if your glasses have platinum, gold, or enameled bands.
      Always store tour crystal right side up and check for nicks. If you find one, you can repair with
           care by using 00 emery paper wrapped around a blunt tool. Filing will make a frosted edge which
           ypu can touch up with polishing rouge on a leather strap. Rub gently in both operations.
         
       

PERSONAL SAFETY TIPS AGAINST ELECTRICAL

     Never touch an electric appliance while you are in a bath.
     Never touch any grounded metal when handling connected electric appliances.
     Keep the electrical elements of appliances dry. Never immerse in water.
     Use convenience outlets in the wall, not lamp sockets, for connecting electric appliances.
     Use only rubber or thermoplastic sheathed cords on washing machines and other equipment likely
           to be used in damp places or out-of-doors.
     Don't stand in a puddle or on a damp floor when connecting electric laundry appliances.
